"A picture of people looking something in the river"
There are a group of people who gather beside the river and looking something inside the river by using somekind of equipment that shape like a frying pan.
looks like they were looking some gold.
i've seen this picture before, in Australian Studies Class, and if i'm not mistaken the picture tells about a tour activity in an old unuse mine.
I think, the picture is teling about a activity to look for gold in Autralia and in other side they are not only autralian, but there are some people from other country that join looking for gold.
you can see that the people how they are enjoy and so enthusiastic to look for gold.
My opnion in this picture that they are enjoy and enthusiastic to do it because in their country they have not activity like that. when they come to Australy and they are looked like that, they are happy and for them this is new chalange for them.

i don't know what they was doing exactly, but if looked their activity in the picture and material that they used, they wanna find something in the river. from the title said that they find a gold. may be this is the interesting activity for refreshing and know about the nature more. the importance is to tourism exactly, but the question is what will be their doing after they find gold?

In my opinion, this picture tell us about how people get fun with the old mining, that actually in the past this places was very rare to be visited by common people. There was gold miners that try to take some chances to get gold by shaking pan and subtract the water. But now this country try to make some interesting places for people to “try his luck” for get gold. Nice site.

In Australia's history, gold mining is one of the way the people survive their living. There are several gold miners through out Australia. The one we can see in the picture is a tourism gold mine. People can take the gold from the river in front of them.
As Gold was the primary industry in Australia,in my opinion, through this gold mine (the one in the picture), government wants to introduce that to the local people and foreigners.
This is a good strategy to attract tourist to come. One of the reason is because the visitors can directly do the gold mining activity and they can connected with the nature.
The other fact is that to keep introduce to the visitors one of Australia's primary industry which has been done for more than two centuries.

First, I just want to say thank you, because of the opportunity in giving and sharing my comments and idea about this picture. Through the flash explanation in Australian Studies' class, this picture was taken in the tourist attraction in Australia. People who captured in this picture are tourist who pretend as a gold miners.
This picture is a picture which is taken from the old mining field in Australia, and nowadays it is used as one of the tourism attraction.
As known that Australia has a lot of mining field. Victoria, Ballrat, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, and New Zealand are some lands which produce gold and some other precious metal for Australia. Base on this fact there are a lot of mining fields in those area and some of them have not used anymore. Latter on, this unused gold mining fields are used for tourist attraction. The tourists who come there can pretend as if they are a cold miner. Using certain equipment to get the gold in the river, they act as a real gold miner.
Nice way to promote one of the unique side of Australia. This action becomes one of the nice way to share and inform Australian Culture to the tourists, either local or inetrnational.
I think that's all the idea that can be shared. I hope it will useful for us.

I am quite sure there are a lot of tourism objects in Australia. As in Indonesia itself, the tourists can choose the places they want to visit. Some may go to the modern tourism objects such as Monas and Taman Mini Indonesia Indah in Jakarta, or bars and lounges in Denpasar. But I am sure most of tourists will go to traditional places which show the unique characteristics of Indonesia’s cultures, such as Borobudur temple, Tanah Toraja, or Gili Nanggu in Lombok. Dulang Emas which is shown in the picture is a kind of traditional way of Australia’s government to attract tourists’ attention to come to the place. Realizing that the river contains such ‘bijih’ of gold, the government of it persuades people to come to find the gold using the way dulang emas. People can use the wide basket which is made special for its aims. The chance to get what they want is quite small. Although the tourists cannot find seed of gold by this way, I am sure they will be happy to participate to a kind of activity like dulang emas. It is such an entertaining thing. So, people will not complain if they do not get the seed of gold. They know about the activity and they will not surprise of the result, whatever it is.. An interesting thing..

Assalamualaikum....
"when anyone is shown this picture, they must not understand where is the picture located" :)
fortunately, I am one of Mr Edi students who has been following his class about Australian subject.
Actually this picture is located somewhere in Australia, I didn't know the specific name of that place, but Mr Edi said that was an old gold mine which has been become a tour place for vacationers. As far as I know Australia is one of the big producers of mineral. In fact, in 1994-1995 Australia has become the three biggest gold producers in the world (Australia Indonesian Institute). The gold was a thing that attracted anybody came to this place for the first time. After the first discovery of gold more than a half million people immigrated to this country.
and do you know something?...formerly, go;d was free for anybody who came there, a lot of people became rich immediately. Maybe that the reason why there are some unused gold mine in Australia, after the owner thought that the mine didn't supply more gold-they left it-
now look at the picture...the visitor try to find it hehehehehe :) wassalamualaikum
The picture shows some people gather at the river side doing traditional gold mining. It is not their job, they are tourists. Tourists tend to do uncommon things at their destined place which can not be found at their origin. In Australia, doing gold mining in a river is one of interesting tourism objects. If they were lucky, they would find some gold and bring it home ;)

This picture is about gold mining tour in Australia. I have seen this picture before in my previous class.
As we know, Australia is well-known as a continent that rich in minerals and other resources. So I think people in this picture are tourist having mining tour in one of the famous gold mine in Australia. They are learning how to be gold miner by sat along the river banks and they seems enjoying the process of washed the veins and the dust to get out of the gold.
Hope one day I will be able to go there and dig my own first gold!

The picture shows the activity in gold mining. We can see that not only the Australian people that is looking for the gold, but also the tourist that come to Australia for their holiday. And i think most of the tourist feel angered with that ritual(looking gold in gold mining) and try their lucky to get some gold..
We can see the expression of the people who are visiting that place, they are very happy and excited. They still use traditional ways to take up the gold. And it's very interesting. People can looking for the gold directly and it attract the visitor to visit that place..
This picture is talking about the activity in the tourism object in Australia... the visitors can have an experience to looking for a gold in here..
so, the visitors may know how hard the workers try to get the gold to fullfill the jewelery factory

In my observation, I saw some group of people are doing traditional gold mining activity. They usually use traditional tools like pan or metal . I've seen this kind activity in television. but at that time the people were in Papua.
However, if i see the picture there is some strange point. people who do the mining activity doesn't seems like a miner. They more like visitor or tourist.
And the girl was staring at the camera, so it can be conclude that this is not a true mining activity.

This picture is telling about the people looking for something in the river, maybe look for the gold. The activity happened in Australia. I think, the people not only Austarlian people and mostly is the children but they look very happy, enjoy and very enthusiastic with this activity. And what this activity there is only in Australia? Why this activity has never been in Indonesia? Isn’t it true that Indonesia have famous with its natural resources? Possible this activity have become the routine activity in Australia to draw the tourist, local tourist and also international tourist to add state's stock exchange.

Well, I’ve ever watched a kind of that picture before in one of program shows in television. If I’m not mistaken, it’s some kind of tour for tourists (whether local or foreign tourists) to looking for gold in an old mine in a small village in Australia. The tourists were given some kind of bowl to filter the gold in the river. But, isn’t it hard enough? Because it’s not impossible to end the tour with no one gold in your hand. But, In my mind that kind of activity is so interesting. Because it’s like a challenge. We have to compete with the other to get the gold. Isn’t it challenging enough, right? Well, I just think over, what’s great of Australian government’s idea that made the places like this as one of their tourism objects? I think, Australian government’s idea is really smart. Gold mining as a recreation object, can you imagine that? Hopefully, our government can do the same action like that with our tourism.

What I’ve seen in that picture is the activity of gold mining at a certain place in Australia. I can’t mention where the precise place is, because I don’t know where it is. There are many tourists who stand around the river and squat on the river shore. They use a net to drag gold seed. I see happiness and satisfaction on their face, though they might not get it at all.
Actually, gold mining is a Primary industry in Australia and it has contributed Australia economic for years. There are many gold mining places, such as Goldfields and Pilbara in Western Australia, and also Super Pit Gold Mine.
According to short explanation above, the tourists can imagine that they are real gold miners. How their life is and know further about Australian major field work.
The picture shows that there are people trying to be the gold miners, as Mr. Edi told us, it is in one of area in Australia. I do not think if this place is a work area, because if it is, why do the Australian government lets the public disturb their work? There is another explanation I guess; The work area is large, and that river is not the base of the gold, then the Australian government decide to make tourism spot for public.
I think that's all about my comment. Thank you

In the picture we can see people try to go back to the past where the "gold miners" still exist in the Australia.
I have already seen this site in some travel shows in the local television, in there I find it interesting because Australian people try to introduce the important site of Australia. Not only introduce it, they also make it more interesting with letting people go straight to the river to search some gold. The awesome idea that not all the country have.
In this picture I can see the happiness through people faces because they feel that they become a part of Australian culture in the past.
I have once read about the history of gold mining in Australia. From there, I learned that gold mining is very important for Australia.
From the picture, I see people are looking for gold from the flow of the river by using a bowl-shaped tool. But I’m not sure if they could actually found any gold there. In my opinion, the picture shows two things.
The first is that the Australian government has succeeded to create a new tourism spot and the second is preserving the heritage of their ancestor at the same time, by keeping the gold mining spot open for the people, so that people can actually appreciate their ancestor’s legacy by still doing the conventional way in looking for gold.
There are important reasons for the Australian government to do those kinds of thing. Gold has been the country’s second largest sources of incomes. Another reason is, gold itself has an important historical story background for Australia’s population. Australia’s population changed dramatically as a result of the gold rushes in Australia. Most of the new populations were immigrants from United Kingdom and other Commonwealth states. In my conclusion, I can say that gold actually plays a big role in Australia’s history, therefore, everything that is related with gold in Australia must be appreciated, hehe..

This picture is about the people who are looking for gold in the river. Most of them are come from Asian. This place is visiting by visitors either from young people, older people, and children. Maybe this activity usually do on the weekend like on Saturday evening or Sunday. This place is always many people. I think that they are spending their leisure time by doing this activity. If they are lucky, they will get many gold. And it is funny activity for the people who want to invite their family to have fun on the weekend.

‘A Gold mining tourism’…. It looks exciting!!!
In my country (Indonesia-red), there is most exiting Gold mining in Papua.
This game has been made by “certain people”.
The player are the outsiders and the indigenous are the spectators.
You know, the investor do not passed away this game. Let’s take the Nature Resource, without care to mother earth…
Let’s play the game without care with the indigenous’ prosperity…
(ehemmm… I think The gold mining in my country is truly a Gold mining!!! It is not the tourism object!!! )
Is there any idea to make Gold mining tourism in Indonesia?... forget it!!!!.....I supposed to be not try it in my country.

Since Australia was famous with its gold mining in the past, many people migrated in this country for mining the gold. People still can find the gold minings in Australia now aday. The appealing of the gold mining seems to be glowing forever. As we can see in the picture, many people were tyring to get the gold sand in the old gold mining. The mudy river was full with people handled gold mining tools. Eventhought people seemed anthusiastic but I think it is not because of the gold. I think they just fell enjoyed because they can learned about the traditional gold mining process. From the weather and number of people in the pictures, I reckon that it was people who spent their summer holiday for gold mining tour. It seems that to much people and less gold to share :)

All of us know that this is a picture of some people who are looking for some gold in an old mining, but i can also see something different from this picture.
Through this picture we can find out the successfulness of Australian(government and citizens) in managing their 'useless' source becomes a productive source in gathering donation/income to their country.
Australian succeed in changing an old mining to become an interesting tourist object that attracts people from all over the world. In other way, we can say that Australian is success in maintaining their old gold mining to keep on productive from time to time.
Although the old mining doesn't produce gold anymore, but now it can still produce another kind of 'gold'- that is the income from the tourists.

From the picture, we can see that there is a river which is crowded by people. They are looking for something inside the river. What is inside the river actually? It might be fish or gold. In a glance, we can say that it is a mining river, but those people are not miners, they are tourists. ????
What I can draw from this picture is that gold mining in Australia had a lot of contributions in economy. This pictures shows that the river is used to be a mining field, but then it became a tourist destination. It means that there are a lot of mining field in australia. In australia, people are looking for gold for their living. They tried to find gold from the river to earn money. It is because in Australia, farming is not the major resources to earn money. Australian soils and climate, with the recurrent droughts, were better for grazing than for farming. In farming, we need a lot of water from soil, river or rainfall. Unfortunately, Australia has one of the most variable rainfall climates in the world. Drought is coming unpredictable. So Australians should find out other resources for their living, looking for the gold for instance.
But nowadays, some of the rivers which is used to be a gold mining become a tourist destination, as we can see in the picture. Maybe people left from a gold miner to farming. Because of the development of technology in agriculture, the problem of bad soil or climate can be solved.

First, i would like to thank you towards the opportunity given to me in giving comment as a form of Australian Studies assignment.
In a glance, this picture shows some activities near the river, whether it is a fishing activities or something else, luckily, it has already explained before in Australian Studies lecture that it is an activity of gold mining. As appear on the pictures from the amount of people there that this activity is not an actual report of Australian citizen field of work, but this is one kind of tourism object in Australia. According to me, this kind of tourism object is quite unique and give a meaningful contribution in introducing Australia's history and unique side towarrds the tourist and even to the Australian citizen itself. This is to tell that formerly, Australia is well-known of its Gold Rush which specifically started in 1851. Hereby this tourism object, the visitor will be much familiar towards Australian Gold Rush in history. This is actually a similar step in other type of tourism object, but really the unique side of it is that it is directly involving the visitors as if they are the real miner. As a preference for example, usually in other tourism object, for example, Indonesia's Borobudur Temple, the visitors can only enjoy Borobudur as a viewer, not as the producer like what is offered by Gold-mining tourism object.

Gold mining…
In my opinion, this picture told about the gold mining in one of the tourism resort in Indonesia. We can see, the tourist, either domestic or foreigners are trying to get some gold by mining them, use equipment that seems like a frying pan. I think it is very hard to get it, because we have to find a very little gold among the small stones. Our traditional gold miners such as in Kalimantan use to do that way. I think it is an interesting activity to find out the gold. If the miners will sell their gold after they find it, so what will the tourist do with their gold after they find it? Will they sell or just keep it….

There were many mines in Australia, such as gold mining, coal mining, and uranium mining. Almost all activities in the states and territories of Australia were mining activities. Mining had a role to prevent the bankruptcy for the early colonies in Australia. Therefore it made Australia as the richest colony and Melbourne as the island's largest city. Mining had changed the population of Australia into a wealth commonwealth. Then there were some mining disasters that made the minings aren't used anymore because there were some explosions happened in the minings, the causes are mostly the explosion and the fire that caused many death. Therefore the mines are now used as tourists objects. Although the mines are no longer productive, but they still can give income for Australia even though not as much as the previous income that they got from the mines when they were still active.

Looking at this picture, i think about the similarity of "behind the screen" of gold mining in Australia and in Indonesia which is known as PT. Freeport. It is behind the screen, but the secret is known worldwide that the original people who live around that area do not get their own rights. OK, they have got their rights, but not the "right rights".
Since the gold mining in Australian was found by Europeans, Australia was colonized by those white tribes and it has caused the pressure to the Aborigins as the original citizen . This kind of fact also happens in Indonesia. The original tribes in Papua were marginalized. They are the owner of that land, but they never own the wealth produced by their land. although some Indonesians also worked there, they are from outside Papua, and it seems like a mask to cover that world class secret.
This picture, where we can find a smiling woman holding a pan to find gold with other people from many different countries shows a "lie". It can be a lie organized by the whites to cover the real conditions that the Aborigins suffer because of their occupation.

From the picture we can see that the site pictured in the post is an old gold mining site. Australia was known for its gold, beside the fact that it was the place for banished high class criminals from Europe. And the Australian government is very clever that they can erase the image of “the land of criminals” to “the land of good fortune” by raising their gold and prosperous side of the country beside of the dark and gloomy side.
From the picture we can see that the old mining site has become a recreation spot. And many people seems happy because they think they can redo what the pilgrims of Australians do, even though they don’t know the real history of Australia, because they only exposed to the bright side, not both sides. They don’t know that slaves who mined the gold.

Gold Rush, one of the famous period of the western people for searching wealthy in new land. From the picture of gold searching in Australia, we can trace the history of the Gold Rush time.
According to the history, many western foreigners especially from United Kingdom come to Australia in colonial time, not only because they are exile but some of them want to make fortune in new land. Search for gold is one of the top reasons, until now gold is very valuable mineral that have exceptionally price and people will do everything for obtain it.
Gold is a symbol of wealthy, people who wear it as jewelry will feel as rich people. In the picture, Australia’s government makes one of the gold mining places as tourism object, and from expression that look from tourist that try to mine the gold from the river, they very enjoy gold mining activity, even though they maybe find only undeveloped gold.
From this gold rush tourism object, the Australia’s government not only gets profit but they also give information and knowledge for the tourist about Australia history concerning the Gold Rush period.

That is a picture of peoples who visited gold mining tourism object in Australia.
the first discovery of gold in Australia changes the nation and sine then, many immigrants coming to Australia to find the Gold.
in 1851, Edward H found a grain of Gold in a waterhole near Bathurst and named the plae Ophir.
After the discovery of Ophir, Gold is also found in some part of Australia.
As many immigrants come and become diggers, the local government start to take fee from the gold diggers.
People in this picture is invited to feel the adventure of finding Gold in Australia, as one of its nature source since gold is usually a symbol of luxury.
Gold has bring big changes to Australia.
The picture shows a gold mining process in South Australia’s territory which also has a great historical story of colonization in the past. And today this place become one of the most visited tourism object in those country. Although gold mining in South Australia never played a major part in its economic development in the past, it directly stimulated excitement. In 1851, the Victorian Gold Rush, had a major lasting impact on Australia as a whole. The gold rush coloured every aspect of Australian society and elements. Australia's population changed dramatically as a result of the gold rushes. But when that era goes by, indirectly gold mining contributed greatly towards the development of the local Australian society, agricultural and manufacturing industries today.

I have read about gold mining in Australia. In that website said that until today there was not a state of Australasia which did not produce some gold. How rich Australia is.
According to picture name, dulang emas, i think that activity is looking for gold in the river. There are many visitors who try to get gold by using tools, which like sieve. I think that activity is not (looking for gold in the river) is not full time job for local people, but just for having fun.
I guess, it is government wisdom in increasing national income from tourism sector.

Wooowww... Great picture to see. I saw it in your Australian Studies class. And I think, what is shown in this picture can't be happened in Indonesia. The idea to attract more tourists in Australia is very interesting. For ordinary people who live in big city or at least not in the mining area will be very interested to try new thing such a looking for gold in the river. They can have two things together in one simple way. One is to attract tourists. This will give some benefit like get the money from the ticket that maybe the tourists have to buy. Second is to have the gold from the tourists to be proceeding. Two jobs done in one great plan.

Hi Mr. Edi...
I don't know the name of the place in the picture which you posted, but when I look it closely, I think it is in Sovereign Hill, Ballarat, Australia. Sovereign Hill is the place where the gold is discovered and opened to be tourism object. Now, Sovereign is one of the famous touristy places in Australia. We can not only enjoy panning for the gold but we can also enjoy the 1800s life style there. Based on the information that I get from my friend who lives in Australia, when we want to enjoy panning for the gold, we are suggested not to go there in the winter because Sovereign is very cold in the winter and the water in the river could freeze our hand when we have panning for the gold.
Neneng Supeni/120730399
I think it is just a good tourist object. There, we can try to pretend to be gold miner. we could know how it feels if we were gold miner in the ancient time. The Australian government wants to introduce the culture of their ancestors. This is because Australia is well-known for the gold mining in the Gold Rush era. But I think it is not that attractive because if we are not lucky we can not find any gold. But from there we could learn that we have to be passion in reaching our goal. Like Indonesian people say "Orang sabar disayang Tuhan".

Hi, Sir...
Nice to see you again ^_^
At first time I saw this picture, I'm not really sure that this kind of activity happened in a place in Australia. I often see this activity in some places in our lovely country, Indonesia. And look at the picture! There are many people whose faces are Asian. I can not find Australian on the picture. But, finally I knew that the location is in Australia because you have told me in the previous meeting class. This kind of one of the tourism objects. They are visiting the mining area and the tourists are directly involved to do this activity. They are finding gold with the tools that are available there. They look very exciting. Almost all of the people interested in finding gold. We called it "Dulang Emas" in Indonesia. But, it is a little bit different in our country. We do not use or introduce this kind of activity to public as the tourism object. It is just used for some companies who worked their employees in mining field.
If I'm not mistaken, there is a date when the picture was taken, isn't it? This picture was taken three years ago, right? Is it yours? If it is, where are you, Sir? I can not find you there...
hehehe... :>
That's all from me. Thank you very much for reading my opinion.
See you later...

The picture tells us about the activity of gold mining in certain place in Australia. The place looks naturally. There are still not many of renovation there. It seems that it is one of places where the aborigines are used to mine gold. The place and the activity are capable to attract the tourists o come and join. The people might be free to do that.
We can see there that the people are happy to be there. The may have their own impression of doing it.

This picture is a new for me. I haven't listen or see yet before. If i see this picture it's look interesting and fun for a new comer. If there is new comer, this makes very curious to try it. In there, most of people enjoy to look for gold in the river. They try to sift careful to get gold, whether they get gold or not, but it is proved that they look enjoy and fun.

The picture above describes the gold-mining activity done by the tourists in Australia. Perhaps, it is attracted the tourists’ interest. It may be one of the ways to defend the Australian heritage. However, the Australian government may have some purposes opening the gold mining tourism places. First, it is just to attract the tourist’ interest. Second, the activity held to donate some money that get from mining the gold for charity. The picture shows that the tourist really enjoys the gold mining activity. In short, it is just my opinion because I have never been there yet. Hopefully, someday I will have an opportunity to go there, continuing my study perhaps (like your wife, sir).

We have that one in Indonesia, too..
Blok Capalu, Taman Nasional Dumoga Bone, Pongkor, and i believe there are still more numbers if we want to search one by one about gold rushes in Indonesia. But don't expect that the names I mentioned above are also aimed for tourism purpose. Honestly, after looking at the picture, I browse on internet search whether we have that kind of gold mining activity, and voila! Big surprise!
While in Australia gold mining is started to be added to tourism goals where you can see people are jamming up the spot panning for gold, but what happen in our country is the contrary. What I found from my searching on Indonesian online newspapers is mostly news about how Indonesian government tried to capture the gold miners and nature destruction because of the mining. No details that satisfy me about gold rush tourism. This is pretty ironic.
Some of us might probably recognize that Australia, especially in western and southern parts, is close to the history about gold rushes during 1881-1892. Although gold mining in South Australia never played a major part in its economic development, it directly stimulated excitement, and short and long term population movements both within the colony, and also between colonies. Indirectly gold mining contributed greatly towards the development of the local agricultural and manufacturing industries.
I believe that our land is also rich. If only our government can shift their mindset from keep on capturing local gold miners and let private companies exploiting the mine to creating an alternative for rising national income, now I would have probably found online tourism advertising for gold rush in Indonesia =)
The question is… When???

My first impression when i saw the picture is "What are they doing there?" then, my lecture said that they were doing gold mining in Australia. it was become object of tourism there.
actually i don't know how the thechnical of gold mining there. but, i think it must be same as here, in Indonesia. i've ever seen on television how to get gold by mining.
people use tools that seem as pan or frying pan to shake the sand in the river until they get the gold. the gold is shaped as sands because it is still natural. i think it is the traditional way.
it is also seen on the picture that they try to shake the pan to get gold. it must be very interesting for people there that they can learn how to mine gold from river's sand together with their family. beside spend holiday, they do useful thing. it is same as doing two jobs in a time. great!!!
i imagine as if in Indonesia there is also object tourism like that, it must be favorite by most people. but, there is disadvantage i think. maybe, some irresponsible person try to steal the gold. however, if the security is good, it won't be happened.
i think, Australian government is quite creative to maximize the natural resources of the area. by being it an object tourism, it shows that Australia also riched by its natural resources beside its human recources. from it, the local government of Australia also can get profit.
Good afternoon Mr. Edi Dwi Riyanto
First, before I start to comment on your picture, I would like to say that I'm impress with your breakthrough in the method of teaching by the blog, because so far I know that there are no other lecturer use this media (blog) to give additional lesson. Your methods of teaching are changing each of semesters.
I would like to give my comment in your picture about gold mining in Australia. As we know, gold is the most valuable mineral in the world. The price of gold is getting higher month by month, and the selling point is higher than other mineral in the world. That is why, people always collect and save much gold as the future asset. Not only Indonesian, but everybody all over the world loves to collect the gold as their eternal asset because of the valuable price.
Actually, the activity of gold mining is just the same in some part of Indonesia, and so far I know these kinds of activities are done in Papua and Martapura, but Martapura is more concern in the jewels or crystals and etc. People in Papua are awfully aware about the condition of the land which is consisting of gold. The grounds consist of pure gold and it is become the main job of people there. They mine the gold to fulfill their needs. But pity, the government is less attention to their area, so the area is roled by foreign.
According to the encyclopedic, gold in Australia is founded in the 1850's. For Australian, gold is the most important and valuable metal. In Australia, gold mining are centered in Kalgoorlie (southwest). Beside Kalgoorlie, Coolgardie and Boulder are another gold mining center. In the middle of 1960's, Australia produced more than 5,287,510 kg of gold, which is produced from many gold centers in Australia.
The gold mining center can be one of the tourism centers. It can attract people to visit those places to mine their own gold and give income to the location. Like in Martapura, it is also become one of tourism object in Kalimantan. People can mine their own mineral.
In Australia, to mine the gold is one of their pleasures. They can spend their time with mines the gold, and they will get many advantages such as pleasure, additional income, new friends, and more.
That's all my comment to your picture. Thank you and good afternoon.

It’s mining gold time! In that picture we can see many people who do the same activity, Gold mining. Actually, it is interesting activity; they can do something that cannot be done by many people. They use traditional way to get the gold, by using wide basket and then put in the river t find the gold. They did it seriously; it can be seen from their face. Gold mining is one of the activities which are done by Australian long time ago. Here, we can see that the Australia government wants to introduce one of the cultures in Australia by building this vacation place. We as a tourist not only get much fun but also knowledge about Australia itself.

From the picture we can see that the pictured in the post is an old gold mining site. Australia is becoming a highly industrialized nation. Whereas a few decades ago the nation was mainly an exporter of raw materials, such as minerals. Australia has been an important mineral producer since gold was first discovered in the 1850’s. For many years gold was the most important metal.
From the picture we can see that the mining site has become a recreation place. And many people seems happy because they think they can redo what the miners of Australians did, even though they don’t know about the real history of Australia, because they only exposed to the bright side, not both sides. They don’t know that slaves who mined the gold.

Hmmm… Silly picture... I mean… Those people in the picture are silly… what are they doing over there?! Sitting over the bank, holding a plate, and wishing a piece of gold will appear on their plate…
Ok, maybe some of you would say that it just for the sake of tourism which offers “unforgettable” experience to tourists. But I would say that it is a public deceit. They offer gold and experience to the tourist for that silly activity, and those unconscious tourists would spend their money and their precious hours to sit over the bank and sway their plate, wishing a piece of gold will appear on their plate. Why don’t they just go to Bali and spend the same amount of money they spend in that fake gold mining for a very comfortable massage at Kuta beach? (Hail Indonesia!!!!)

My first impression when I saw the picture I thought it's a kind of people's belief that they can get what they want in the river...
But then I realize that it's a kind of people's tradition named gold mining. I also try to find out about the tradition in another source.
Historically, gold mining in Australia is one of Australian way becoming wealth. The gold mining is related to gold rush in Australia in 1851. Besides, with those activity, it can makes the relation of Australian get closer, we can see that they are being together in a river.
I think the activity is also one of government strategy to increase the incoming through tourism aspect. I don't know what things inside the river, because if there's nothing people can get or catch I think it's impossible people wants to visiting the area.
Well, I hope the government are really take care of the place, don't let people take a bath or washing their clothes in the river like in Indonesia...

when i see this picture, I assume that those people were looking for some gold in a river. The gold mining in Australia become one of the tourism object. The Australian government want to introduce the unique culture of gold mining in Australia. This mining activity become popular among the foreigner because in their own country this activity is rarely did.
Australia is well-known as a continent that rich in minerals and other resources. the question is, is there any law to control the illegal gold miners in australia?
remember that gold mining is one the most popular culture in australia.
okey that is all my comment for this picture. I hope i can go to australia to mine the gold. So i can be suddenly rich.

First time i saw this picture, i think this activity is about the activity in a tourism place in Australia. they seem they're trying to find some fish, but the river is not quite deep. i don't know exactly what they are looking for. but, i have ever heard there is a place we can try to find gold in Australia. Perhaps, this picture told about it. But i believe even though they are looking for gold but they will not be rich. it seems very difficult to find gold there and the Tourism of Australia will take the biggest part of the gold for themselves. It is a unique activity. so, a lot of people like it. They very happy and enjoy the activity.

When i saw this picture, my mind said that they are looking for some gold. How do i know? Because a few months ago, i have ever seen one program in television told about the tourism of countries in Asia and Australia. the hosts came to a place where they could try to get gold. it could be said as they were trying to do "dulang emas", just like in Indonesia. it was just similar with the picture above. they are trying to find some gold, but it is not easy exactly. the best think they can get is just some sparkling in their "frying pans". don't you ever dream just by trying to get gold, because is not easy as you think. The best way to be rich and success it is by working hard in your job.

Gold has high value. It is very expensive. No wonder if many people want to get it but it is not easy. People will face many challenges. Even some people lose their life when they try to mine it. Even though they must sacrifice their life, they still do not give up. The picture above is interesting for me. When I see a gold mining on television, I will see people who work hard, seem exhausted, and wear ugly t-shirt which is full of mud or dust. But the picture above is surprising me. People who are pictured on the picture look very happy, they are smile, enjoy what they are doing, and even they wear good clothes. I think they will be happy and satisfied even though they do not get gold because they have tried hard even though it is not as hard as real gold miner’s effort. Through this experience, they will know that mine gold is difficult job. They will more appreciate and respect gold miner. They will not humiliate this job. I think it is very good experience. They will feel other people suffering, so they will have empathy to them.

The picture of “dulang emas” is interesting for me, because I never found the same one in my country. As I know, the activity usually done by prospector (for gold). In the picture, not only Australian people who do that activity. It could be a new experience that very exciting for tourists who visit the place in the picture of “dulang emas”. Beside that, the activity can increase our knowledge and sense about how to pan for gold by your self. I do not really understand that activity is a custom in Australian people or may be there have some history inside.

The picture is about gold mining that becomes one of the tourism in Australia. The gold tourism might be an interesting travel destination in Australia because the country is known for the gold-rush in 1900's. during at that time there are so many foreigners came to Australia because they heard that gold could be mined from the river. And many people who get back from Australia are rich from gold. Now the goldrush has ended and the gold mining is concentrated in government's authority. but still we can find the inheritance of gold mining spot as a proof of history that there was a goldrush in that spot. Tourist are eager to know the history and at the same time maybe they would be able to obtain gold by themselves. who knows? If i was there, i think i will try my luck in gold. haha...

Seeing the picture, made me assume that doing some unique activity can entertain ourselves from routine activity. Such as what we can see in "Dulang Emas", all people can laugh, smile, annoy, even angry. In other words, they looked like enthusiastic try to their lucky to look for some gold. Of course, some people need some tools to do that although it was just for fun, especially for the tourist.

What I see in this picture is kinds of another activity that offered in small river. Based on the picture, I can see every expressions for each people looking for some gold in river. From the picture, I can say that it was a gold mining, not really mining, but I think that it is a tourism activity. we can see from the expression, from the amount of people in the picture and how they use the pan to find the gold from
the water-flow. i think that they are not really the gold-miner.
Related to this picture, I think Australian government was really success to remove the real gold mine into a tourism activity, so that people who want to know about gold mining can express and share their curiosity.
Gold mining in Australia is one well-known Gold-mine which specifically started in 1851. so that, the visitor will be much familiar towards Australian Gold Rush in history.
from the opinion i shared in this blog, i hope this good thing can followed by Indonesian, in order to make a better life.

I think it is a fantastic picture. There were so many prospectors. If in our country pan for gold is a profession that can create much money, from the picture we can see that pan for gold like washing activity in a river. As if a tour, visitors enjoy the view.from the picture we can know the very significant differences between Indonesia and Australia. Australia as if a rich country, and Indonesia as a poor country because the prospectors must snatch away place pan for gold in order get some money, whereas In Australia pan for gold place just for tourism and shows their wealth.......

Nowadays, the gold industry is well established and instead of hundreds of gold miners panning for gold in Australia, the work is done by huge machines that separate through mountains of rock, extracting microscopic amounts of the precious metal. However, if we look at the picture above that shows about the activities of tourists who are looking for gold in some gold mining, we may think that they use a conventional way to get gold from the river. The using of this conventional way is one of the Australian government’s strategies to keep remembering all of Australian people and foreigners about the struggle of getting the gold from the gold mining. Although it can separate the gold grain from other materials, it needs patience and hard working to collect the gold into certain amount. This procedure becomes a tourist attraction for the people who come to gold mining area which the picture shown above. They really enjoy it.

When I open this blog, the picture that display about people who doing something in the river is interested me. I've seen the activity before in television, when Sarah Sechan went to Australia. And I believe the people in that picture are tourists from many country who want to look for gold. I don't know it's river or what, but there are gold in it.
Many people seems enjoy while doing that, who knows that they will got gold there and could bring gold to their country.
The picture in this blog is a kind of tourism object in Australia. Actually, gold mining is one of the contributor of economy in Australia.
Historically, mining has had a substantial environmental impact in some areas of Australia and gold rush coloured every aspect of Australian society and elements of it are still clearly visible today.

For the first time I see the picture honestly I little bit thinking what are the people doing in the picture!.Afterthat I realize that there are group of people doing activity to look for gold in the river.
They try to find gold and sat in river banks by using traditional tool. It is the conventional way to find the gold. The people looking very happy and enthusiastic to find gold altough I think it is not easy to find it.
The people in the picture are not really doing gold mining as for their job but they are a tourist and visitor who find to look for gold. Gold mining become the object of tourism in Australia. It is very ineteresting because the government have good idea to attract people and tourist come in Australia with doing this activity and make the tourist know about heritance of Australia, this activity is interesting because it is just not for fun but tourist also learn more about Australia.
Gold mining in Australia become the contributor economy industry in Australia after coal and the government maintaince the industry very well. This remind me in our country,we have gold mining too but the government don't have good idea to introduce it as an object of tourism.

Gold mining was the Australian main job in the past. White immigrants from Europe also have done that job. But time by time the gold sources reduce and then end up. Now, that place has become a tourism object. That’s one of the Australian culture and as young generation we must prospering that culture. Now it doesn’t seem appear now maybe it because there aren’t enough gold to find. So I think that place is being used to memorized that moment. But by the time the Australian realize that it was a part from the past.

The picture make me think about Martapura, Kalimantan, the same place in Indonesia where gold mining is becoming a part of the people's life. In contrast with situation occur in Australia, gold mining is a kind of controversial thing here. Uncontrolled and wild mining causes environmental problem in our country; hence, in Australia, this place is opened for tourism.
This two different way of responses from the government policy in looking at the opportunity, gives a glance of view for me. That the attitude of society towards their natural resource actually influence government attitude in establishing a policy. Australian government can make use the unused mining field to attract foreigner coming into their place, while introducing their background history. I think Indonesian's can do the same thing, even more, since we have more places to show off. However, the same success will also depend on the citizen's consciousness in supporting the government decision.
A very impressive picture. it is indeed part of tourism object in Australia. it is quite famous and attractive (the picture shows so many people came there). it attracts the tourist attention because it is such a unique place where we are free to search for gold in a small river there.
of course, we will hardly find a big gold there, even if we are lucky enough, we will just find a very small piece of gold. if we ould find a real gold, this place might have never been opened for public!
so, I guess it's the experience and the fun that people really enjoy there or perhaps people are really attracted to gold which implies wealth as in phrase "where there is sugar, there is ant".
if I'm not mistaken, there are also a performance and a small manufacture provided there. They are worth visiting anyway.

If we visit another country, maybe the first thing in our mind is new place, where we can enjoy to waste the time during we go abroad. When you look up the picture above without know what it is, maybe you will be confuse.
It is a picture of a tour object in Australia, where many visitors are usually want to waste the time there. You can see in the picture that many people there are not Australian, but they come from outside Australia. In the past, this place became a place to pan for the gold in traditional manner. The attractive thing from this place is you can try to pan for the gold traditionally. In my opinion, this tour object is very interesting, we get many advantages from this exciting place.
Many places in Australia, which become the tour object of many visitors. More attractive the place, more people want to visit. Try to compare this phenomenon in Indonesia. Where can we find the place like picture above in Indonesia, or tour object, which is same, or resemble in main object with picture above. It can be the reference for Indonesia government, especially culture department to review tour object in Indonesia to be better place.

i think this picture tell us about the activity in Australia to find the gold in the river. people in this picture like enjoying this activity. but, as we can see from this picture, they are not Australian people.
i think they are Indonesian. so, in my opinion, this river in this picture is open for recreation area. it's nice i think to fill holiday with this activity. we can learn how to find a gold. it's a good way to attrack foreigners to come to Australia.

In the picture we can see a group of people gather around the river, and looks like they doing some activity. If I am not mistaken they looking for gold in the river, they act like a gold miners and substract the gold from any other material in the river. From the history of Australian we may know that gold mining is the way how people of australia in the past make living.Maybe this area is some kind of recreation place that will attract many tourist with such unique activity such as gold mining. It is a creative way from australian goverment to promote their country.

As we can see, the picture shows us about the group of people who looking for a gold in a river with the traditional tool. Maybe some of us just asking to themselves about is there any those places who still doing that way to looking for gold. But in reality, if I’m not mistaken, that picture was taken in such of tourism places in Australia. But in the past, that tourism places was the real gold mining, but now it isn’t be activated anymore.
In my opinion, I think it is great idea to making that place to be a tourism places. Besides relaxing our mind, we can also learn about the historical of gold mining in Australia. Not only that, the visitors could also would understand and feel the life of the gold miner in the past. And I hope sometimes Indonesia would also could build a tourism places just like that.

In my opinion, the location of “Gold Panning” shown in the picture is not a kind of common location that is used to pan for fold actively anymore. My opinion is based on the way people wear dress. Most of them wear common dress. There are some gold panning in Australia that are changed into tourism objects of gold panning. The location is usually former active gold panning location. But it has not been as productive as in the past time. This idea is excellent. The activity of gold pinning is a very interesting activity to some people, particularly from urban people. They do not only see the scenery, but also can involve directly in becoming permanent gold prospectors. Furthermore, by visiting gold panning, they also find interesting activities and new form of object tourisms. If they have become to accustomed to mall, and other kinds of urban object tourism in town, they can find something called as “back to nature”. The concept of “back to nature” is a concept that makes human beings gets closer to nature. And, the gold pinning contains the concept of “back to nature” that can fulfill the need of some urban people to set them free from their routine activities boredom.

In my opinion, the picture is similar with our culture, teamwork (gotong royong) to clean the river. But in fact since i knew that Australian people have a tradional activity, maybe this picture tells about it.
It is gold mining, australian tradition that shows about how important gold for them. Even for us, gold is very charming :)
From the picture, we can see that people are looking for gold from the flow of the river by using a bowl-shaped tool. But i think, most of people there don't care about the gold itself. They more enjoy the tradition than thinking about the gold.
So it is no wonder that there are many tourists take a part of this tradition. and in fact, Australian government make this tradition as a tourism object.
The difference between our country and Australia is that gold mining in our country is not for tourism object while in Australia, it is open for public, especially for tourists.

i don't know exactly what are those people doing as captured in the image. as i got the information from my class of Australian Studies, those people are doing such mining activity. they are in a reserved sanctuary of gold mining, and doing something as their ancestor did. which is conventionally doing gold mining.
in my opinion, the activity is a good point in remaining their history. by doing the activity they will be able to recognize their ancestor and what has been done by their ancestor. otherwise, the activity of remaining history seems well conducted so that the activity of learning history is not seemed as something boring to be done. hence, the young generation can also enjoy their learning of history and culture.

Looking at the picture you'd posted automatically reminds me to the history of Australia. Gold rush, gold mining, and gold miners are the keywords for cruising Australian history. Started in 1851 by Edward Hammond Hargreaves, gold rush became an icon in Australia that played important part in developing the country. Through the picture, I can obviously see that the Australian government gives meaningful contribution to conservate Australian history by maintaining the site itself. It enables not only Australian citizen but also foreign visitor to know further about the Australian history especially gold rush, and even they can experience the real feeling to be gold miners.

There’s something unique after seeing the picture that perhaps we can try in the next time. It describes about one of tourism object in Australia which offers us more than usually we do in others tourism place. The unique one is come from their way in giving us challenge to find something there. Along the river inside the place, there are much gold we can search. Such this way surely can attract people primarily who never try to do that. Depend on my mind, Gold mining tourist attractions are great for me. It’s also great for all people, kids and adults alike, because it doesn’t need many theories to do. It eventually expands our ability and opportunities to learn more about gold mining. Perhaps, in next time we can explore it in truly mining, and encourages us become highly successful gold miner.

Australia actually has some popular tourism objects. One of them is gold mining. It becomes so famous all around the world since many foreign tourists are interested in visiting it.
From the picture I can see some Australian people are working to get the gold in the river bank. In the other side, many tourists either from Australian or other countries are trying to look for the gold only just for fun and some of them look at the activity.
I can conclude that the Australian government gives opportunity to everyone studying about Australian culture specifically gold mining and it maybe also applied in my beloved country, Indonesia

Long time ago, people in Australia are doing those activity to get some gold. This picture is not a picture of local people, they are tourists who try their luck in an old mining which is used as a tourist object. In the picture, we can see they still use traditional tools like pan or metal.
I think it is a good strategy to introduce foreigners about Australian mining and their history.
I wonder if Indonesian could take an example from them, maybe we could introduce foreigners how to make batik or how to plant some rice seeds.

The discovery of Gold
The picture reminds me of the discovery of gold by tradesman in 1851. the gold has brought many immigrants from Great Britain to China to move to ‘New Holland” and it was true that at that time, gold les to a period of great prosperity. That place in the picture is one of the witnesses of the imperialist of colonial government.
This picture shows the enthusiasm of the tourists in Ballarat gold mining conservation. The tourists might get the gold flakes (the smallest flakes I guess) because as far as I know, the staff of gold mining conservation spread the gold flakes into the river so the tourists can do their panning gold to try their luck.
I think the gold miners in Ballarat were not only the immigrants but also the Aborigine slaves. I also wonder if the Aborigine slaves were treated just like the African miners portrayed in “Blood Diamond”.
For more than a hundred years, Ballarat has become a gold mining for Australia, both lexically and grammatically. When the real gold was depleted, Australia government succeed establish Ballarat as a living museum to develop their tourism and it digs up another gold, dollars!

According to the picture, I have seen an enjoy feeling faces from people there. They enjoy their activity in gold mining. From that picture I not only see an Australian people but also the foreigner, I think it has already been an activity tradition when we go to the Australian. Gold is a kind of a luxurious thing; we can get money from selling the gold, so I also see the spirit of people there to find the gold. I think from the picture shows that everybody can do that activity, it’s free, but it different with Indonesia. People who want to look for gold in gold mining must have permission before doing that activity. If they don’t get permission, usually we call it as illegal gold miner, and it is a forbidden activity.

I think the picture shows that the place was used to be the place of gold mining now becomes tourism object. It shows that Australian government has the good way to increase their tourism through the historical place. I also guess that the place was the place of the aborigines working for white people. They got suffers and the white people got the advantages.

As we observe that the picture has actually described the activity of traditional mining gold from the river. As I know that the mining activity is only the small part of certain tourism place in Australia which I’ve ever seen it on some tourism TV program. The tourism spot has been arranged just the way of the old country. The building, the old society, the people with their classic costume, they do various old job which we rarely know and exactly seldom to find it somewhere but we could find it there. All of its contents are just about description of social life in the past. The traditional way of mining gold that we see on the picture is only one example of activity which often done in the past. I think it’s very good idea to have such a great tourism place which also remind us about history of how people live in the past and of course we can examine the education purpose of it.

It picture tells many thing which can give us understanding that Australia country is diversity. For example,it can be taken look from people, cultural, and tourism destination. Even from one of that picture, this can draw that Australia is diversity. In the picture , there are many people who are different their skin and the way they wear dress. They come from any countries. If I try to guest that picture, I am sure that they are not only look for gold but also they enjoy their holiday in gold mining in Australia.

Gold mining.
an usual activity in Australia. many tourist from other country come to Australia to see or joint in those activity. the activity happen in the small river and they bring some bowl. after that they put it into the water and start to mining the gold. If they're lucky they will get a pieces of gold, even it's just a little. in some tourism object they're still held the activity. but the differences is the gold might not be taking home.
but they're still buy the gold stuff in shop around those tourism object. Made in Australia.
