From the picture above, I am as observer to that image that it is like as meeting area in Rome or Greek. but my question, Why did they just stand up in the center of the meeting area? I feel, they supposed to be go up and became as audience or judge as like on the movie. In the center line of the meeting area, there was broken line. It is hard to say, but it is as the exit door of the people whose are standing up in the center line.

"Half Stadium made from Stone"
The first picture shows such the inside half part of a stadium. The stadium was made from stone and right in front of it at the end of lowest seat, there were such a circle, such being the center view from every place of the stadium seat.
This picture may have connection and can be related to some Roman History.
At that time, such place usually use to gather a meeting, where the person who will speak, stand in the circle, such the Senate.
Or can be use to perform a play or drama, the seat arrangement of the stadium, support the best viewpoint or angle to see it.

The remains of Rome's glory. This great epic building namely Colosseum was built, and become famous, to hold historical gladiator fight, a battle between warriors vs warriors or warriors vs wild beast, and special public events. Located in Rome, Italy this round shape construction is made from stone with many consecutive levels. One centered arena in the middle of the building as the place of the main event. Although this building has ruined because of earhtquakes, it is considered as one of the great wonder of the world and as the representation of one of the great civilization, Rome. Many of sport building, particularly football, nowadays have the same construction like Colosseum. Long Live Caesar !!

I think the building is Colosseum. Colosseum was the main venue in Rome at that time. It is the place where the Caesar and the people in the lower class can join and enjoy the same entertainment (even though still their places are differentiated).
The main entertainment that available in Colosseum is Gladiator battle. The Gladiators are the group of people who come from slaves, prisoner, people who have a big loan, homeless, etc. They fight for freedom, money, and pride. The Rome people really love the show even though it consists of violence, blood, or even murder. Gladiator also considered as sport for Roman.
I just wonder, how could the roman people enjoy that kind of brutal and cruel attitude as their main entertainment??

The picture above is the old theater on Greek. Besides the Gods and Goddess, Greek also has many famous art and literature. For example, the famous art and literature is “Oedipus Rex” or “Oedipus the King”. It's a story about the incest, and later the tragedy becomes some kind of 'morality tale'. The idea is given that Oedipus commits a 'sin' by sleeping with his mother and killing his father, and is punished because of it. The soul of this particular Greek tragedy lies in the land of the Gods, with the relationship between individuals, communities, and the Gods. This drama was written by Sophocles. He’s was an early Greek playwright, dramatist, priest, and politician of Athens. So, the picture above is not “only a picture”, but it keeps a lot of histories beneath it.

I don't know more about this picture. But, I know that this picture is COLOSSEUM. The big place with many audience. I think this place like A place where a wild and a matador in there. That place is in Spain. But after I look for information in a situs internet, COLOSSEUM was used for gladiator contests and public spectacles. As the traditional gladiatorial games, many other public spectacles were held there, such as mock sea battles, animal hunts, executions, and dramas based on classical mythology.COLOSSEUM is an iconic symbol of imperial Rome.Today it is one of modern Rome's most popular tourist attractions.

This building looks like Colosseum that i have ever seen in Rome. It is the place that all people can sit together. And it could be the place for looking an entertainment or for meeting. The people who want to speak must come to the center of the place and then speak to all people around him until the people in the highest place can hear what he wants to speak. This place also could be the place for looking some entertainment such as gladiator and theater. For most people at the moment, Colosseum is a famous place. And most people often come and sit together if there any event. Now, people still come to that place just to look the old place.

This picture is kind of stadium in Rome or we call this as Colosseum, one of remarkableness building in this world.
If we look the history of this building, Colosseum was arena for crude competition and blood spillage. This death contest usually as entertain especially for the Cesar of Rome.
That become my question is why the building that has the great history in death contest and hunt show able to become one of the remarkableness building?and why borobudur temple that has great history in religion does not become the remarkableness building anymore??he....
It is right that Colosseum is the representation of Rome Glory's which has wonder exterior and interior setting, but i think this building also represent about violence, war, and crude competition.
I do not say that Colosseum is not wonder as one of miracle buildings (depend on UNESCO), but i think borobudur also has the same proper as world legacy....=)

I don't know exactly what kind of building is that. But in my opinion, it seems like the sharp similar with a Colosseum Roma. Or maybe it a place for held a competition at ancient time.
And those people who stand in the middle of that building must be tourist who visit this building. This kind of building is suits for tourism object.
maybe someday I could visit this place.

I think that picture is not colosseum in Rome. it is too small. But, i guess, the type and function of building are same as Colosseum.
The shape of building is amphitheater.
And the function of building are
1. mock sea battles (naumachiae).
2. execusions (noxii).
3. gladiatorial games (munera).

The building named Colosseum is an eliptical amphitheatre in the centre of the city of Rome, Italy. It is the largest ever built in the Roman Empire. The capable of seating is around 50.000 spectators. A great number of capacity at that time. The Colosseum was used for gladiatorial shows and public spectacles. The gladiatorial shows, called munera, were always given by individulas rather than he state. The interesting thing is that the actors of the shows expressed their feeling by wearing masks. Because no sound system yet at the time. The Colossseum remained in use for nearly 500 years with the last recorded games being held in the 6th century.
The Colosseum today is a major tourist attraction in Rome with thousands of tourists each year paying to view the interior arena. It’s also included in the Seven Miracles of The World, like Borobudur before.

I think this picture is about Coliseum (Colosseum). It was the first permanent amphitheater to be built in Rome. The amphitheater is a vast ellipse with tiers of seating for 50,000 spectators around a central elliptical arena. The Coliseum was used to host gladiatorial shows as well as a variety of other events. Gladiator is the battle between human vs human, human vs animal (bull) and also this show was very horrible because there was many bloods everywhere. This building was very well-known in tourism.

I think picture 1 is a Colosseum. As i know the Colosseum has a Latin name Amphitheatrum Flavium. Is a elliptical theater in the city of Rome, Italy. I think that's the largest ever built in Rome. The originally capable of seating around 50,000 spectators. The Colosseum was used to entertain the public with free games. Those games were a symbol of prestige and power. For examples gladiator shows as well as a variety of the other events and also the animal hunt such as rhinoceros, hippopotamus, elephants, alligators, tiger, etc. It has been estimated that about 500,000 people and over a million wild animals died in the Colosseum games.
I hope next time i can see that the historical building... =)

The Greeks had already improved their literature into drama since about 5th century BC. They tried to make the story of their literature and the myths more vivid and visualized. The dramas were played in the stadium or outdoor theater where thousands of people attended to watch. The performances were not only for honoring the god Dionysus but also for entertaining. The Greeks loved the stories because they liked the action and the lesson of the stories. I think the Greeks were trying to express their ideas and their creativity at that time. On the other hand, the audience wanted to get something that could entertain and give them inspiration, it’s just like what we want to get nowadays.

From the picture above, I think the building is Colosseum. That building is the largest in Roman Empire which ever built. And now, this building is symbol of Roman Imperial. That place is center of entertainment. Usually for entertainment, like gladiator fight, drama, animal hunt, etc. But the most popular entertainment is gladiator fight.
This is very big building. In the picture, show about the seats. The seats itself accommodated 87.000 people. Wow! When the spectators come, they were seated in disordered place. That shows Roman class society. At the same level on a base, there was a podium, was for senate class. The next level up of seats was for originally reserved for Roman society. In the certain seats was allocation for other social groups. And the top of the seats was for common poor, slaves and women.
That is shows that in roman empire there are still difference caste in society between the king and citizen.
How can they see the show of gladiator or another entertainment if some citizen like poor society, slaves and women if they are seat in top of the building?
Now, this building become famous and some tourist go there just for photo and see how the great building stand there. This building become the one of the relic Rome.
And i hope, someday i can visit there in Rome.

The harmony of its cavea, the way it 'sits' in the landscape with the semicircle hollowed out of the side of the hill, and the quality of its acoustics make the Epidaurus theatre one of the great architectural achievements of the fourth century. The circular orchestra provides the link with the stage buildings.

The great dramatic festival of athens was held in the spring in the theatre of dionysus, to the south east of the acropolis. the festival was only held once a year, and whilst it lasted the hole city kept holiday.

This picture is the symbol of Greek's believed in the past. As we know that Greece believe in God and goddess power. It makes from the big and strong stone. Everybody come a long together to the center of this building to do some ritual for their God and Goddess. but i think it's not for the spiritual things but also for show theater, drama, etc. this building was build about 500 B.C, the structure, texture have already broken.

It is The Dionysus Theatre. The theatrical culture was famous in ancient Greece between c. 550 and c. 220 BC. This pale was built to honor the god Dionysus. Tragedy (late 6th century BCE), comedy (486 BCE), and the satyr play were the three dramatic genres shown in the drama-performances were important to the Athenians. About the building itself, the plays had a chorus of up to fifty people, who performed the plays in verse accompanied by music-the orchestra, beginning in the morning and lasting until the evening. The performance space was a simple semi-circular space. The players played a scenario and they also wore mask The masks were used to show the emotions of the characters in a play, and also to allow actors to switch between roles and play characters of a different gender. For me, this ways is so helpful since last time we had not had sound system. So, people were helped to understand the story well. There are some famous writer of Tragedies, namely they are Sophocles and Euripides. Their works are so inspiring and well-known until now. Last, Western theatre in Athens and its theatre and drama has had a significant and deep impacts on whole Western culture and people around the world.

The picture is a drama theater at Athens. The Greek use it to praise DIONYSUS, he is the god of agriculture, fertility, and season renewal by performing drama. So drama was made from Athens actually. Based on the picture, I can conclude that Greece have a high intellectual because they can set up a theater building although it could not be completed by sound system so they wore a mask to show the expression of the actor. Second, they have a great loyal to their god. They didn't just praise their god by pray or sacrifice something but they build a theater building and performed a drama to praise the god.

There are several people who just want to see the stadium. They are enjoying this place with standing in the middle of stadium. And there are people who are walking to see the building of stadium. Maybe they usually go to there in the evening or on the weekend like Sunday morning. I only give little comment for this picture, although I think my comment is not suitable with this picture. It is one of the amazing buildings in the world. Based on the history that I know, it used to be as the place for theater show in Rome Imperial. Here the Caesar of Rome and the people were sit together, enjoyed the entertainment (such as theater). Recently there was a film which uses Colleseum as the background, it was Gladiator. This film told about the gladiator, a fighting between two men in the past.
but I do not know, whether this place still use for the showing stage or not…

the picture looks like Colosseum, but it's far different than those i have seen in movies like gladiator or jumper.. the seat is too low to the ground, despite of the facts that colosseum is used for battle of gladiators and animals that they shall made it higher to ensure safety. Moreover, the land is too fertile for an ancient ruins, and i don't see any tunnel in it.

In my opinion, from the architecture and the stadium model it's more like a greek theater. A theater seat will be higher in the back to give a clear view for the audiences, and the box in the back, it seems like it was a place for theatrical play with musical instrument to support the play.

And when i checked sources of greek theater, i found that this picture is more close to Epidaurus theater in greece . This theater is well-known for it's accoustic quality. Located in the bottom of a hill and surrounded by milestone as the seat and also the sound blocker, audience will hear almost everything from music to sounds of matches in the main stage.

In my opinion, the picture is shown a half part of a stadium which made of stone. Seems like it is an ancient building that reminds me of Colosseum, an amphitheater in Rome. Usually, it was used by people to have a court, battle of the gladiators, and also for entertainment such as theater performance. The shape of the building is like a bowl, where the audience's seats are circled around the stage. It makes them easier to watch the performance.

Nowadays, it is become a famous tourist object in Italy. As we can see in the picture, there are some people gathered in the center of the building. maybe they want to learn further about the Greek's culture.
